As winter draws in and the nights start getting darker, don’t despair: the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival is just around the corner! This is an annual celebration of Jazz music and people travel from all over the globe to experience the music and soak up the atmosphere. There are more than 90 different venues hosting events this year which means that you will not have to go far to enjoy some amazing music.
Jazz artists from everywhere come to perform at the festival, and in years gone by Cork has seen artists such as Dizzy Gillespie and Herbie Hancock play live. While you are in Cork you can follow a jazz trail that will take you around some of the venues and introduce you to free gigs and so much more. If you are a fan of jazz and you want to experience the best live music in this genre, Cork in October is definitely the place for you.
As well as listening to live jazz acts, at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2013 you will also be able to enjoy several lectures on the subject, witness as remarkable street theatre, experience workshops, attend a jazz camp for budding musicians, and join the Festival Club. You will also be able to sample traditional Irish food and other delicacies as you relax in the company of friends. Going by coach is the simple and hassle free way of getting to the festival (it also means that you won’t have trouble finding somewhere to park)! You and your jazz-loving friends will be able to savour a pint or two of the black stuff while relaxing and enjoying the wonderful music.
